This week’s photograph is a follow-on from last week. It is 27 of the younger students of Terrors Creek State School in 1909. It is believed the Student Teachers are Andrew Walter McKenzie (son of Alexander McKenzie & Bessie Buckby) and Martha Ellen Bradley (daughter of William Bradley & Ellen Bell). Andrew Walter McKenzie married Sarah Mabel Easlea. Martha Ellen Bradley did not marry.
The children are all dressed in their Sunday-best. It is thought that the girls (second from the left 3rd row from the front and far right sitting on the ground) are Delia & Evelyn McKenzie, the two youngest sisters of the student teacher. Two of the girls in the back row (far left and 2nd from the right) may be Warburton sisters, Isabella Jane and Mary May (same fabric in dresses). Their younger brother John would also be in the photo. They are the three oldest children of John Warburton & Isabella Hare.
The boy in the middle of the second row (sitting) could be Thomas Jack McKaskill whose older brothers were in last week’s photo. The head teacher’s daughter Myra Stapleton would be one of the little girls sitting on the ground.
The two 1909 Terrors Creek State School photographs came to the Historical Society from two different sources, years apart. Unfortunately only the date is known. We live in hope that someone somewhere has copies with all the names.
