Miss Florence Eliza Sadler was appointed head teacher at Mt Pleasant State School in June 1912. She was transferred to Gympie mid-1915. The Brisbane Courier of 21st May 1915 records “…A farewell social was tendered to Miss Sadler, head teacher of the Mt. Pleasant school (who has been transferred to Gympie) in the School of Arts on Wednesday evening…During the evening the chairman (Mr. E. Rudd) who is secretary of the School Committee spoke of the regret felt in the district at the departure of Miss Sadler, and on behalf of the parents presented her with a purse of sovereigns…”
During her time at Mt Pleasant School Miss Sadler became involved in community fundraising especially after the outbreak of World War One, when she trained her students to perform in concerts raising funds for the Red Cross and the Mt. Pleasant Patriotic Fund.
