Overview
Leather tooling and tanning is one of the oldest human practices, used for centuries for books, clothing and furniture. Despite technological advances in the world around us, there is something special about handcrafted leather goods, the smell, the feel, the hours involved in shaping something unique and organic that attracts people to the ancient practice. It’s an art. Rachael from Middle of the Water puts hours into hand tooling, dying and stitching pieces of art for those that want something raw and beautiful. Rachael specialises in journals, naturalist field books/logs, notebooks, albums and art diaries all with hand stitched pages. Rachael also makes covers for yearly diaries, vessel log books, portfolios to suit, passport wallets and tobacco pouches. Materials available include kangaroo and cow hide. Crafted in her home based studio in Mount Pleasant. – Phone 0459 988 766 Email: rachael@middleofthewaterart.com, Website: www.middleofthewaterart.com online shop: https://www.etsy.com/au/shop/MiddleOfTheWater?ref=hdr_shop_menu
