Laceys Creek State School 1931

There are 35 children in the photo.  Some 20 children were identified when Melva Welch prepared the Laceys Creek Book but other than their names, we do not know where they are in the photo.  The names start from the back row – Mervyn Kenman (possibly 2nd from the left) Ron Merker, Charlie Kenman, Walter Fischle (5th from left) Charlie Enchelmaier, Blanche Heathwood (possibly standing off to the left), Elva Heathwood, Clarice Heathwood, Violet Wirth, Grace Merker, Melva Easlea, Eyleen Enchelmaier, Hilda Merker, Norma Eslea, Ethel Woodward, Fred Merker, Aaron Stubbings, Jack McArthur, David Wirth & Alison Enchelmaier.

Other children on the school roll who may have been in the photo are Walter, Dorothy and Ronald Costelloe, Ernest Fischle, Basil & Daphne Lindenberg, Christiane Merker, Douglas & Clifford Perry, Lawrence & Reginald Rucker, Kevin Werner & Christiane Wirth.

Laceys Creek School opened in 1898 and closed in August 1963.  It was always a one teacher school.  Local lady Emily Catherine Page was the first teacher.
