In January 1920, 100 years ago, it rained quite a bit.  The Brisbane Courier of 8th January 1920 reported “DAYBORO:  January 7.  Unsettled weather still prevails, with light to heavy showers.  Up to 8 a.m. yesterday a further 2in fell, totalling 8.9in since the weather broke” which converts to approx. 226 mm.

Two weeks later it rained again.  The Brisbane Courier of 22nd January 1920 reported “DAYBORO: January 21.  Rain commenced to fall yesterday at about 8 a.m., and up to 8 o’clock this morning 5in. had fallen.  The Pine River and all creeks are in high flood.  Light to heavy rain was still falling at 2 p.m.”  5 inches converts to approx. 127mm. 

The date of this photograph is unknown other than it was taken sometime between 1915 when the house at what is 1 Hay Road was built and before the Railway was opened in September 1920 [the railway buildings are not in the photo].
