Senator Neville Bonner officially opened the 1979 Dayboro Show. He is pictured here with Jim Clune, Dayboro A.H. & I. Assn (Show Society) President (1978-1982), and Win Henzell.
In 1971 Neville Bonner became the first Aboriginal Australian to become a member of the Australian Parliament when he was appointed to fill a Senate vacancy on the retirement of Dame Annabelle Rankin. In 1979 he was named joint Australian of the Year along with naturalist Harry Butler.
That longhorn beast behind him has a mean look in his eye.
The 64th Dayboro Show is being held this weekend – Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th July. Dayboro Show is still very much a country show so come along and join in all the family fun.
