This week’s photo is another one in the series of photographs taken by Dick O’Neill of the Dayboro Peace celebrations on 19th July 1919. The store in the background was located where Puma Service Station is now.
Many soldiers, including 11 of our local men, had not returned to Australian shores when the peace celebrations were held. Some did arrive back in the country until early 1920.
Come and join us at “Dayboro Cottage”, 27 Williams Street this Saturday 20th July between 10am and 3pm to commemorate the centenary of peace.
