Dayboro Football Team 1959 – Winners of Harmony Shield at Caboolture

The first football team formed in the district was at Mt. Pleasant in June 1912.  A team was also formed in the township at some stage as the Brisbane Courier of 6th August  1913 recorded “…On Saturday afternoon a team of footballers from Mt. Pleasant visited Terrors Creek, and after a fast and exciting game the match with the local team resulted in a draw, each side scoring 5 points.”

The Moreton Mail of 9th June 1933 recorded “…A “Blue and Gold” dance was held in the Excelsior Hall, Dayboro, in aid of the Dayboro Football Club’s funds…”

The Dayboro Times & Moreton Mail of 6th February 1954 recorded “…We hear that an effort is going to be made to get Rugby League football under way in Dayboro…”  The Club must have been re-formed as the Dayboro Football Club won the Harmony Shield at Caboolture for the 1959 season.  The photograph says 1960 Season but Danny Doyle, who was a member of the team, has assured us that the date is incorrect as he was playing at Redcliffe in 1960.

Dayboro Junior Rugby League Sports Club, the Dayboro Cowboys, was formed in late 1984, fielding three junior teams in the 1985 season.
