The Suburban Express of 29th November 1983 reported on a “Gala opening at Dayboro” when the Pine Rivers Shire Council’s Dayboro swimming complex was officially opened by the Shire Clerk, Eddie Hyland, on 19th November 1983.  The pool was built by the Council but the children’s wading pool was built by the Dayboro Lions Club.  The Shire Chairman, Cr. Alan Hughes said “…People had a lot to thank the division’s present councillors, Cr. Rita Collins and Cr. Joe Bradley, for in the building of the pool complex.  But the initial work of former councillor Michael Cruice must be acknowledged – he laid the ground work for the pool.”

Dayboro Dolphins Swimming Club was formed in 1983 and is still going strong.
