Dayboro Day Parade May 1998

The 1998 Dayboro Day parade was led by two mounted police officers as usual. They were followed by a bullock team with these two magnificent lead bullocks, reminiscent of the days of “yesteryear” and Sam Heathwood’s team coming around the corner in front of the Crown Hotel in February 1923. There is a pine log on the timber jinker that was provided by Barry Winn and Barry is bringing up the rear acting as the brakeman. The names of these two lead bullocks are unknown but Sam’s leaders were Podge and Bright. His son Sid once said that they were the two best lead bullocks his father ever had.
The Dayboro Day crowds have certainly grown over the past 20 years.
