Dayboro Community Catering ceased to exist on 31st December 2008, ten years ago. It was a voluntary organisation officially formed in 1996 to raise funds for local community organisations by way of catering. It was run by a small committee who did the client contact, menu planning, ordering etc. and member organisations were required to provide the workers when it was their turn to be involved in a catering. By 2008 member organisations were struggling to provide the number of workers required and a decision was made to disband.
Dayboro Community Catering won the Dayboro Business of the Year Award in 2002.
Fundraising through catering was nothing new. The “Dayboro Ladies” led by Jean Sellin and Molly McKenzie had been fundraising for many years, mainly for the Ambulance, Show Society and Hall Committee. Other organisations benefitted also.
