At the monthly meeting of the Pine Shire Council in April 1931 the Overseer reported “Dayboro Township – The concrete water channelling was completed on 15th March. Total cost, £132 9s. 1d. Filling footpath behind channelling cost to date £36 14s. 3d…” The next stage was completed in October 1938.
This photograph, which was taken on 9th February 2008, shows the deep gutters with their high sides on one side of Williams Street. They were a bit of a challenge for passengers getting in and out of motor vehicles and it was also not unusual to see a vehicle suspended on the concrete edge when misjudging doing a U-turn. By November 2008 these deep gutters had been removed and replaced with normal kerbing and channelling.
