Butter Factory & Silverwood Store Terrors Creek c. 1917

The Brisbane Courier of 22nd May 1916 reported “…There was a large gathering of farmers in the Range Hall on Thursday afternoon to consider the scheme put before the farmers by Mr, Denham by which they may acquire the butter factory…After a long discussion on the benefits of co-operation it was decided unanimously that it was in the interests of the district to acquire the factory.  A committee consisting of Messrs. D. McLennan, E. Rudd, C. Kuhn, R. Brockhurst, Simpson, McLennan, Henzell, W. Bradley, and R. Kenman, was appointed to draft a scheme to be submitted to a general meeting at an early date…”

At a public meeting on 1st July 1916 it was moved “That a Company be formed named the Terrors Creek & Samson Vale Co-operative Dairy Co. Ltd with a Capital of £10,000 in 10,000 shares of £1 each.”

The Co-operative took over the butter factory on 30th September 1916.
